North Country Cheviot Rams
Boz Hill 15Z "Jasper"
Integrity 15X x Boz Hill 11S
North Country Cheviot
May 11, 2012
We have owned Jasper since the spring of 2013, he has been a phenomenal flock sire. He came to us through the Boz Hill breeding program and has turned out to be one of our best sires. We have always had one ram with this breeding program on our farm.
Jasper is a big boy, weighing in at almost 250 pounds. He has a fabulous body structure and conformation, which is passes onto his offspring. He is more of a park style ram rather than a hill type. He has a good depth of frame and is square from any direction you look at him. He has good feet and leg structure and throws very vigorous and lively lambs. His head has seen just a few to many fights. Love his babies.
Coneygeers Gac 5D - "LAD"
Cass 21W x Coneygeers Gabriella 9W
North Country Cheviot
March 06, 2016
We have purchased Lad from the Canada All Sheep Classic in Red Deer, AB in 2017. He is bringing in all new bloodlines into our flock and we are very excited to see his offspring.
Lad was one of the top rams we thought at the show, he shows a great confirmation and discipline. He has a straight top line with great bone structure throughout his body.
With him joining our ram power, we have seen a great improvement on top of our breeding program already. His first group of lambs in 2018, were what we were hoping for and more, he throws the docile discipline alone with a great confirmation on top. We are excited to watch these lambs grow and continue to show them off.
Double L Ervin 38E- "LESTER"
Shawn Stonehouse 23A x Coneygeers Beep 2Z
North Country Cheviot
April 01, 2017
We have purchased Lester from Royce Lodoen of Double L Farms. He showed at Agribition in 2018, and topped his class. He wasn’t for sale at the time, but we just had to have him. After the show, we were able to purchase this phenomenal ram. He came to us in January of 2019.
Lester is on sharp looking ram, he had a great body structure, thick boned and a deep barrel. We are excited to use him as one of our main rams come 2019 breeding season to see what he throws in the 2020 lambing. Hoping the offspring are like him!
Bluefaced Leicester Rams
You will notice that all of our BFL rams have 3 sets of registeration numbers. This is why. To have registered BFL's here in Canada with Canadian papers the animals must also be registered in Great Britian. This is due to Canada following the Great Britian breed standards. So when we got our first BFL's, Kelly did a lot of research on pedigrees (being a pedigree junky, this was an easy task). We then headed to Scotland to meet with the Bluefaced Leicester Sheep Breeders Assocation with all of our findings on the pedigrees. We went through each of the animals pedigrees with the Helen and come up with a list of the ones that we could register with the GBR registery. When we received The Bluefaced Leicester Sheep Breeders Association Registration Certificate we then sent these certificates into CLRC to get the Canadian papers. With out the Canadian papers anyone wanting to show the BFL here in Canada can not. At the time of purchase of all our BFL's we had only recieved the BLU papers with them. This is the American registery, we have kept this registery on all of our animals so if they have a black fleeced baby we can still get a set of papers on them so you can still follow their family tree as it is still a registration.
Littlesmoky 4506 "Quin"
BLU: 4509 Ram
Littlesmoky 7819 Drogon x Bitterroot 708 Tia
April 12, 2013
Quin is our first Leicester ram, we have owned him since the spring of 2016. He came to us from the Eileen Wosnak Bluefaced Leicester flock dispersal.
Quin has grown into a very thick ram since coming to our place. He has the typical Bluefaced Leicester look, the roman nose, long straight legs, erect ears and the a phenomenal fleece and the traditional blue face.
He carries a real mild temperament and is a real gentleman in the pen. In April (2017) we had our first on farm lambs from this ram and we're pleased with the out come. These lambs when crossed for the mules, were well muscled and large rate of gain. The purebred lambs were still well put together lambs but grew a bit slower.
Littlesmoky 4440 "Balin"
BLU: 4791 Ram
Somerhill 66635 Xact x Ranfurly 268 05Y Amy
Bluefaced Leicester Ram
March 22, 2014 - April 16, 2020
Balin was a new face to our flock in 2017. He is one intelligent looking ram. He has a straight back, good legs, and thick built. Balin has the large erect ears, the blue skin and also the typical bluefaced Leicester fleece to show. He has gained a fair bit of weight since coming here, he is our go to ram when we want to show off the breed.
Balin is more of the laid back ram out in the pen, nothing really gets this guy to excited.
Star 405 Titan
BLU: 6222 Ram
Ranfurly 27A x Littlesmoky 7805 Sousa
Bluefaced Leicester Ram
DOB: April 2, 2018
We have a new ram on the block here on the farm. This young man comes all the way from Star Hoerauf of Bowden Island, BC. Titan is a big boy that we are excited to have here on the farm. We are excited to have another British registered ram, being a younger brother to Snowflake we are sure to have more Snowflake looking lambs running around. Titan is a stout, strong boned and muscled up lamb we are sure he will throw it into his lambs year after year.
Fusilier L65F - "Smutty"
Littlesmoky 4509 Quin x Littlesmoky 7744 Carmen
Bluefaced Leicester Twin Ram
May 08, 2018
Birth Weight: 10 lbs 2oz
Was decided that Smutty will stay with us as one of our breeding rams. This boy is Canadian registed and is pretty eye apealing. Kelly was pretty estatic when Jason allowed her to keep this boy. We are excited to see what he will throw. He is a son of Quin above as Quin is getting up there in age we decided we needed to keep his genetics in the flock as there are not many BFL's in Canada all genetics are valuable.
Lochridge 73E - "Tank"
Orchardview 78B x Mcdermit 273Z
March 10, 2017
Tank is thick, short legs, straight bone structure, plus to top it off he has a great attitude to boot. He has to be the farm favourite, every person that goes into the ram pen has to go pet this big boy, he's so docile and loves people, would never know he is a ram.
With that being said the offspring from him, look exactly like him, we call all of his offspring, little piggys.
We are sure glad to have added this ram into our breeding program, the butcher lambs have increased and same with our replacement ewe lambs as 1/2 registered texels.
